Cattle slaughter rose 13% year-on-year in the last quarter of 2025
Cattle slaughter in Brazil reached 10.95 million head in the fourth quarter of 2025, representing a 13.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024, but a 2.9% decline from the third quarter of the year, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
In volume terms, beef production totaled 2.91 million tons, up 15% year-on-year, but down 1.8% from the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, pork production totaled 1.35 million tons, rising 2.1% year-on-year, while chicken output reached 3.53 million tons (+4.7%).
Raw hide purchases by tanneries totaled 11.13 million pieces in the quarter, an 11.8% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, although down 2.6% from the third quarter of 2025.
